MAX30102 Pulse Oximeter Heart Rate Sensor Module

The MAX30102 Pulse Oximeter Heart Rate Sensor Module is a compact optical sensing solution for measuring pulse-related signals and developing heart-rate and SpO2 monitoring projects. It combines red and infrared LEDs, a photodetector, ambient-light rejection and low-noise signal-processing circuitry in a small sensor package.

The module communicates with a microcontroller through an I2C-compatible interface, making it suitable for Arduino, ESP32 and other embedded development projects when the required logic-level interfacing is provided.

The sensor uses changes in reflected red and infrared light to detect variations caused by pulsating blood flow. Its programmable LED current and sample settings help developers balance measurement performance and power consumption, while the FIFO data buffer supports efficient data collection. The integrated ambient-light cancellation and high signal-to-noise performance can help improve readings in practical wearable and fitness applications.

The MAX30102 is well suited for DIY electronics, wearable prototypes, fitness-monitoring projects, biometric experiments and educational embedded-system projects. It is a sensor component for development and prototyping, not a medical diagnostic device.
