The SS-R300N is the successor to the SS-R250N, a network-enabled recorder/player that combines the high reliability and flexibility required for professional applications. While inheriting and enhancing the wide range of recording and playback functions of the previous model, it further strengthens network operability and system integration through features such as secure file transfer and OSC support. The SS-R300N is suitable for a wide variety of professional audio systems, including those used in commercial and public facilities, halls and theaters, broadcast installations, and conference systems.Supports High-Resolution Recording and PlaybackSupports high-resolution recording and playback up to 96 kHz/24-bit using SD cards and USB flash drives. Compatible with SDXC cards and USB flash drives up to 512 GB, enabling flexible media operation for applications such as long-duration recording and playback of large-capacity content.Efficient and Secure File Management Over a NetworkEquipped with a LAN port, the SS-R300N supports uploading and downloading of recording and playback files via FTPS client and SFTP server/client functions. Files can be transferred securely and directly between the unit and a server, enabling efficient file management without removing the SD card. It also supports an auto-upload function that automatically transfers recorded data to a designated server.Supports Diverse External Control Options and Seamless System IntegrationThe SS-R300N is equipped with multiple external control interfaces, including Ethernet (RJ-45), RS-232C serial (D-sub 9-pin), and parallel (D-sub 25-pin) connections. It also supports the Open Sound Control (OSC) protocol which enables seamless integration with a wide range of devices, including DAWs, lighting systems, and video systems. In addition, compatibility with the previous SS-R250N and SS-CDR250N models is maintained, allowing smooth system upgrades while preserving existing media assets and operating environments.Comprehensive I/O Connectivity for Professional Audio SystemsThe SS-R300N is equipped with XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced analog I/O, as well as AES/EBU and S/PDIF digital I/O. It can be connected to a wide range of professional audio equipment, including mixer. Using the appropriate audio format, the SS-R300N allows for flexible integration into existing sound systems.Seamless Integration into Dante-Enabled SystemsBy installing the optional IF-DA2 interface card, the SS-R300N can be connected to Dante networked audio systems. It can be easily integrated into existing Dante environments, enabling flexible system design and deployment through the use of networked audio.Q-SYS ControlUsing the plugin available through Q-SYS Designer Software, users can control the SS-R300N over a network from the Q-SYS User Control Interface (UCI). Functions include transport control such as record start/stop, file renaming, audio source selection, folder and file selection, file uploads to an FTP server, and automatic deletion of uploaded files from the units media after upload. This enables seamless integration with the Q-SYS platform, which is widely used across a broad range of applications, including corporate, education, hospitality, live events, cinema, government, healthcare, and transportation environments.Offline Editing of Playlists and Timer Event ListsWith the dedicated TASCAM Playlist Editor software, playlists and timer event lists can be created and edited on a computer. The software also supports conversion of MP3 and AAC files to WAV format, as well as sample rate and bit depth conversion of WAV files, helping streamline content preparation and system setup before deployment.Support for External CD Drives and Multiple Audio FormatsBy connecting a compatible third-party external USB CD drive, the SS-R300N can play audio CDs. It also supports AAC file playback, providing flexible audio operation across a variety of audio source formats.Customizable Operation to Suit Different ApplicationsThe SS-R300N features four USER buttons on the front panel, allowing frequently used functions to be assigned as desired. It also supports function assignment for the PARALLEL I/O (external control I/O), enabling a flexible operating environment tailored to specific applications and system requirements.Main Features:Supports high-resolution recording and playback up to 96 kHz/24-bit (SD cards / USB flash drives)Upload/download of audio files over a networkExternal control via Ethernet (RJ-45), serial (D-sub 9-pin), and parallel (D-sub 25-pin) interfacesBalanced analog I/O and AES/EBU digital I/ODante compatibility (with optional IF-DA2 installed)Q-SYS plugin supportOffline editing of playlists and event lists using TASCAM Playlist EditorCD playback via a compatible third-party external USB CD driveUser-assignable functions for front-panel USER buttonsRecording Capabilities- Pre-Rec captures audio before recording starts, helping prevent missed recordings- Sync Rec automatically starts recording when an audio signal is detected- Direct Rec enables immediate recording without entering record standby mode- Backup Recording and Relay Recording using two SD cards or an SD card and USB flash drive- Auto Track automatically divides files based on level, elapsed time, remaining capacity, or digital input source changes- Automatic mark insertion when level overloads or errors occur- Automatic file closure to help prevent data loss in the event of unexpected power interruptionPlayback Functions- Flash Load and Flash Start functions for Flash Play- Multiple playback modes, including Single, Program, Random, Repeat, and A-B Repeat- Auto Cue cues playback at the audio start point- Auto Ready pauses at the beginning of the next track- Incremental Play provides quick access to the beginning of the next track- Call function for instant return to the previous playback position- User-definable mark points for efficient navigation to desired locations- Playback speed and key adjustment (Pitch Control / Key Control)- Ducking balances input and playback audio levels- Mono Mix function for mono output from stereo sources- EOM (End of Message) output for external devices before playback ends- Link Play for backup playback using two synchronized recordersGeneral Functions- Timer Event enables automatic recording, playback, and file transfer at scheduled times- High-precision network time synchronization via SNTP- Built-in sample rate converters on inputs and outputs- Switchable analog I/O reference levels (nominal / maximum)- Configurable Power On Action- Save, import, and export unit settings (up to 5 presets)- Import of SS-R250N system backup data for smooth migration from existing systems- Compatible with optional remote control units (RC-SS150, RC-900, RC-SS20, RC-3F, RC-20)- 1U rack-mount sizeNew Features Compared with the SS-R250N- FTPS client and SFTP server/client functionality- System integration and external control via OSC (Open Sound Control)- Support for SDXC cards and USB flash drives up to 512 GB- Offline editing of playlists and event lists using TASCAM Playlist Editor- Internal clock correction using control signals from an external timer unit- CD playback via an external CD drive- AAC file playback- Fade-in and fade-out playback- Analog output muting during recording- User-assignable functions for front-panel USER buttons- User-assignable functions for PARALLEL I/O- Transport button illumination for improved operation in low-light environmentsSpecifications:Media- 2 SD card slots, 1 USB port- SD cards (512 MB – 2 GB)- SDHC cards (4 GB – 32 GB)- SDXC cards (64 GB – 512 GB)- USB flash drives (512 MB – 512 GB)- Media must be formatted as FAT16, FAT32 or exFATRecording File Formats- MP3: 44.1k / 48kHz, 64k / 128k / 192k / 256k / 320k bps- WAV: 44.1k / 48k / 96k Hz, 16 / 24bitPlayback File Formats- CD-DA: 44.1kHz, 16bit (when using an external CD drive)- AAC: 44.1k / 48k Hz, 32kbps – 320kbps, VBR (MPEG Extended HE-AAC (Audio stream), DRM not supported)- MP3: 44.1k / 48kHz, 64k / 128k / 192k / 256k / 320k bps- WAV: 44.1k / 48k / 96k Hz, 16 / 24bitNumber of Channels- 2 channels (Stereo) / 1 channel (Monaural)Analog Inputs (Unbalanced)- Connector: RCA pin jacks- Nominal input level: -10dBV- Maximum input level: +6dBV- Input impedance: 10k or higherAnalog Inputs (Balanced)- Connector: XLR-3-31 equivalent (1: GND, 2: HOT, 3: COLD)- Nominal input level: +4dBu (Ref.
